New Delhi. The Central Government has approved the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), giving relief to lakhs of central employees and pensioners. In the cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, DA has been increased by 2 percent to 60 percent. Along with this, Dearness Relief (DR) has also been increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. This increase will be considered applicable from January 2026 and employees will also get its arrears.
More than 50 lakh employees benefited
More than 50 lakh central employees and more than 68 lakh pensioners will get direct benefits from this decision. This increase is expected to impose an additional financial burden of thousands of crores of rupees annually on the government, but it is considered a significant improvement in the income of the employees.
Monthly salary increased from level 1 to 18
After DA increasing to 60%, there has been a slight but sustainable increase in salaries at all pay levels. The change in monthly salary as per level is as follows:
Level 1 (₹18,000 Basic) → Increase of about ₹360
Level 5 (₹29,200 Basic) → Increase of approximately ₹584
Level 7 (₹44,900 Basic) → Increase of approximately ₹898
Level 10 (₹56,100 Basic) → Increase of approximately ₹ 1,122
Level 12 (₹78,800 Basic) → Increase of approximately ₹1,576
Level 15 (₹1.82 Lakh Basic) → Increase of approximately ₹3,644
Level 18 (₹2.50 Lakh Basic) → An increase of about ₹5,000
This clearly shows that higher level employees will get more benefits, while the salaries at all levels have improved in equal proportion.
