New Delhi:- In fact, some people have reduced the amount of salt in their diet, yet they still have the problem of high blood pressure. According to a health website called Healthline (USA), this is because they have not realized there are other underlying causes affecting their blood pressure.
Apart from salt there are some other important factors that can increase blood pressure:
psychological pressure
In a state of stress, the body behaves as if it is facing danger. At this time, the nervous system becomes activated and secretes hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones make the heart beat faster and blood vessels constrict, causing blood pressure to increase.
If the stress lasts only for a short time then there is no need to worry. But if stress persists for a long time or is repeated every day, blood pressure will often increase. Over time, this can damage the walls of the blood vessels and cause long-term high blood pressure.
lack of physical activity
The human body is made for movement. When we are inactive, our cardiovascular system also works less efficiently. Blood vessels become less flexible, while the heart has to work harder to pump blood throughout the body.
Moreover, a sedentary lifestyle can easily lead to weight gain and metabolic disorders like diabetes and high cholesterol. All these factors contribute to high blood pressure.
Another important thing is that during exercise the body produces a substance called nitric oxide, which helps to dilate blood vessels. If you do not get enough exercise, this process becomes weak, due to which the blood vessels start shrinking and blood pressure increases. People do not need to do a lot of exercise. It is enough to do simple activities like brisk walking, cycling or light exercise every day.
Reduce the risk of breast cancer by consuming adequate soy.
overweight and obesity
When there is excess fat in the body, the heart has to work harder to deliver blood to all the tissues of the body. This increases pressure in the blood vessels and increases blood pressure.
Additionally, excess fat increases insulin resistance and causes long-term inflammation. Both of these factors make the function of blood vessels less effective. The kidneys’ ability to regulate water and salt levels is also affected. As a result, blood volume increases, causing blood pressure to rise.
The good news is that you don’t need to lose a lot of weight. According to Healthline, losing about 5-10% of body weight is enough to significantly improve blood pressure.
