Across the globe, various species of venomous snakes exist, some of which are so lethal that finding an antidote for their venom can be extremely challenging. Notable examples include the King Cobra, Common Krait, and Russell's Viper, which can be fatal within moments if they bite a human. These snakes are often referred to as 'walking death.' However, recent research indicates that tears from camels found in deserts may hold the key to neutralizing the venom of 26 different snake species.
A study conducted by the National Research Centre on Camel (NRCC) in Bikaner could revolutionize the medical field. The research revealed that the antibodies present in camel tears can deactivate the venom of these snakes, which is why camel tears are more expensive than those of any other animal worldwide.
Multiple studies have corroborated these findings. Not only the NRCC but various institutions have researched this topic, discovering that camel tears contain antibodies capable of effectively treating snake bites. Research from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine also indicated that medications derived from camel tears could counteract snake venom. Additionally, a study from Dubai's Central Veterinary Research Laboratory highlighted the remarkable properties of camel tears. Recently, NRCC scientists achieved success in treating the venom of the Saw-scaled Viper using camel tears.
Potential Price Increase
Following this groundbreaking research, it is anticipated that the price of camel tears may rise. Researchers assert that these tears contain unique antidotes that can treat snake venom. This research could be particularly beneficial for countries like India, where thousands of people die each year from snake bites.
