Rome. Two Indians were shot dead in Covo in Bergamo province in Italy when they were coming out of a Gurudwara. Local media gave this news on Sunday. This Gurudwara was in a warehouse which was being used as a place of worship. According to ‘La Sicilia’ newspaper, the attack took place shortly before midnight on Friday in the square in front of Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji in the city’s industrial area.
The deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Raginder Singh, resident of Kovo, and 48-year-old Gurmeet Singh, resident of Agnadello. According to the newspaper, the attacker allegedly approached these people, opened fire and then fled in a car. The report said that according to preliminary investigation, the possibility of murder following a sudden clash has been ruled out.
About 10 cartridges have been recovered from the incident site and officials are investigating the possibility of “planned murder”. According to the report, an eyewitness told journalists that the shooter was “an Indian” who was a frequent visitor to the gurudwara. He said the bullets also missed another third person.
