Women’s Reservation : To fully implement the Women’s Reservation Bill, the Central Government introduced three main bills, Constitution (131st) Amendment Bill, Delimitation Bill 2026 and Union Territory Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026. But the Constitution Amendment (131st Amendment) Bill could not be passed. After which BJP and its allies are calling the opposition parties against women’s reservation. On this, Congress says that the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed only in 2023. Women’s reservation has not failed but the agenda of linking it with delimitation has failed.

Congress MP KC Venugopal, who was attending the proceedings on the last day of the special session of Parliament, said on Saturday, “The entire country watched yesterday’s debate. We all unanimously passed the Women’s Reservation Bill, 2023. We are in favor of the Women’s Reservation Bill. Now, the government will have to take immediate steps to implement the Women’s Reservation Bill for the 2029 elections. Their agenda of linking the Women’s Reservation Bill to delimitations failed yesterday. Because they were in favor of their own convenience.” They want to delimit it accordingly… Because of that shock, they are now telling all these fabricated things that women’s reservation never failed.
Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav said, “This historic bill was passed in 2023 itself. What was the need to amend it? Despite bringing amendments, they notified the old bill the day before yesterday. There was no basis for debate and voting on it. The entire country knows that it was brought because elections are being held in West Bengal. They have forgotten that Mamata Banerjee has already implemented more than 40 percent quota for women.”
