Vaibhav Suryavanshi's batting style continues in IPL 2026. He has already created a stir by playing some explosive innings. This season, it has proved difficult for the batsmen to match his explosive batting. But Abhishek Sharma has definitely done this. Before Vaibhav, Abhishek, who had won accolades by destroying the bowlers with his destructive batting in the last two seasons, equaled the young batsman by scoring a half-century in just 15 balls in IPL 2026.
Vaibhav's match in 15 balls
Such chaos was seen with Abhishek's bat in the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings. Abhishek started swinging the bat as soon as he arrived for Sunrisers, who were batting first in the Hyderabad ground. No Chennai bowler could escape the attack of Abhishek during the power play. During this, Abhishek completed his half-century by hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes in 7 consecutive balls. His half-century came at the end of the 5th over of the powerplay.
Abhishek hit 2 consecutive fours on the last 2 balls of the fourth over. Then in the 5th over, as soon as he came to bat on the second ball, this batsman again hit boundaries. He completed his half-century in just 15 balls by hitting 3 consecutive fours and then 3 sixes against Matthew Short. This is the fastest half-century in IPL 2026. In this matter, he has equaled Rajasthan Royals' young opener Vaibhav, who has already scored fifty in 15 balls twice this season. On the basis of this explosive innings, Abhishek took the team to 63 runs in just 5 overs, out of which 50 runs were his alone.
Samson's wisdom prevailed over Abhishek
However, Abhishek could not take this innings much further and the reason for this was Sanju Samson, his opening partner in Team India. Abhishek failed to play the last ball of Jamie Overton in the eighth over and the ball went into the hands of Chennai wicketkeeper Samson. While Overton and the rest of the players started preparing for the next over, Samson advised to take DRS. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad followed his advice and here Chennai got success because the replays showed that the ball had touched Abhishek's bat. Abhishek was out after scoring 59 runs (6 fours, 4 sixes) in 22 balls.
