The alarming rise in crime and sexual assault cases in India has left many in shock. Following the recent resolution of the Changur Baba and Ashok Khairat cases, another distressing incident has emerged from Nashik, Maharashtra. Eight women employed at TCS have come forward with serious allegations.
These women claim that they faced intimidation, sexual harassment, and mental distress at their workplace. So far, a total of nine FIRs have been filed in connection with this case, detailing grave accusations against the alleged perpetrators. Legal actions have been initiated under various sections of the law.
Inappropriate Comments Made
According to a report, a male employee from TCS's Nashik branch alleged that one of the accused made a highly inappropriate remark, suggesting that if he wanted a child, he should send his wife to him while he was undergoing medical treatment. This allegation is part of broader complaints regarding workplace harassment and forced religious conversions.
Forced Religious Practices
Reports indicate that the alleged harassment began in 2022, shortly after the employee joined the company, and included pressure to adhere to religious rituals against his will. He claimed that his team leaders coerced him into wearing a cap, reciting the Kalma, and performing prayers. This behavior reportedly escalated from workplace harassment to an invasion of personal beliefs and private life. The employee named team leader Tausif Akhtar and colleague Danish Sheikh as individuals who allegedly targeted him. Akhtar, in a position of authority, reportedly burdened him with excessive work, including assignments meant for other employees, to keep him under pressure and compel compliance. Both Akhtar and Sheikh were previously mentioned in an FIR filed by a 23-year-old employee, who accused Sheikh of attempting to kiss her forcibly and pressuring her into marriage. The report also claims that Sheikh's associates, including Akhtar and HR executive Nida Khan, made derogatory comments about Hindu deities and attempted to undermine his religious beliefs.
