In such a situation, Sunrisers Hyderabad has announced the replacement of David Paine. SRH has included a fast bowler from South Africa in the team. This player will be seen playing in IPL for the third time. The special thing is that every year a new team is giving a chance to this player in IPL.
This bowler's sudden entry in IPL
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), facing another injury in the IPL 2026 season, has included South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee. Gerald Coetzee will replace David Paine, who has been ruled out of the entire season due to an ankle injury. David Paine played only two matches for SRH this season, in which he took two wickets. The special thing is that he himself came into the team as a replacement after the injury of Australian fast bowler Jack Edwards. But now he himself is out due to injury.
On the other hand, Gerald Coetzee is a right-arm fast bowler, who is known for his speed and aggressive bowling. He has played 4 Tests, 14 ODIs and 18 T20 International matches for South Africa, in which he has taken a total of 67 wickets. His experience in IPL is also quite good. He has taken 15 wickets in 14 matches so far, in which he has been a part of Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians teams. Gerald Coetzee was part of Mumbai team in 2024 and Gujarat team in 2025. That means he is going to play for the new team for the third consecutive season.
Gerald Coetzee will get this much money
Let us tell you, Gerald Coetzee had entered the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. But no team had bet on him. Now SRH has signed Coetzee for Rs 2 crore. He will now strengthen the bowling attack of Hyderabad, especially when team captain Pat Cummins has not been able to play any match yet due to injury. However, Pat Cummins has been declared fit for IPL.
