The cast of Avengers: Doomsday has expanded with the announcement of Kathryn Newton's involvement. Following the recent footage reveal at CinemaCon 2026, Newton shared her excitement on social media about reprising her role as Cassie Lang, daughter of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. Her character's return raises intriguing questions about the future trajectory of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Cassie Lang's Return to the MCU
In a playful Instagram video, Newton confirmed her return to the MCU, much to the delight of fans who had speculated about Cassie's comeback, especially after Scott Lang's participation was confirmed. In her announcement, she humorously showcased a miniature director’s chair, stating, “[It’s] tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny.”
Newton's character will team up with her father and other MCU heroes to confront Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., who is making a return as a formidable villain after his iconic role as Iron Man.
During CinemaCon, attendees were treated to a sneak peek of a touching moment between Scott and Cassie, highlighting their father-daughter bond. The film will also feature a star-studded lineup, including Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Panther (Letitia Wright), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Gambit (Channing Tatum). Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

Kathryn Newton is the third actress to portray Cassie Lang in the MCU, following Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann. Her return suggests the possibility of a Young Avengers storyline, with Cassie potentially teaming up with Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld).
