Since the first Dhurandhar came out, Ram Gopal Varma has been thoroughly praising the film. He only doubled down on the compliments when Dhurandhar: The Revenge came out. If you were active on social media or simply on the internet, you were aware that he was out there defending the movie a lot.

Despite how much people loved the Aditya Dhar films, there were some ways in which even the fans couldn’t defend them. No film is perfect, and neither were these. Now, even RGV agrees that it had one flaw.

In an interview with Hussain Zaidi, Ram Gopal Varma talked about how Dhurandhar got a lot of things right, but at the same time, it got one thing wrong. The filmmaker has been very vocal about how much he loves the Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar films, but even he can’t defend how the film handled its greatest mystery.

In the first part, a mysterious character was mentioned, Bade Sahab. No one knew of his identity but theories were flying around. The sequel revealed him to be none other than Dawood Ibrahim. “The only element I disagree with is that. I feel that the portrayal of Dawood Ibrahim... They might have their own sources, (but) I think it is being shown incorrectly.”

The filmmaker admitted that he couldn’t make any sure claims about the gangster, but he knew a completely different story. “It's not like I can say that with authority. But it is not falling in line with what I know.”

In the movie, Dawood Ibrahim is shown being very sick after Jameel Jamali poisoned him with Dimethylmercury. RGV had a completely different perspective, “He is inactive by choice, because he stopped doing anything. I believe he retired from criminal activities 20 years ago.”

“Nobody can be an expert; nobody can know this is the truth. We all think Dhurandhar has shown something... I can't disprove it, and the director can't prove it as well.”

The Company director further clarified that there is no concrete proof of anything, neither him nor Dhar is right or wrong. Schrodinger’s Ibrahim makes it so that Dhurandhar could have presented fiction or fact as fiction.
