In the IPL 2026 match held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, the Mumbai Indians (MI) faced a disappointing defeat against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), losing by 7 wickets with 21 balls remaining. After starting the season with a win, MI has now encountered four consecutive losses. Following this latest setback, MI captain Hardik Pandya expressed his frustration with the team's performance.
Hardik Pandya's Reaction to the Loss
Pandya hinted that the team might need to make some tough decisions for upcoming matches. He stated, 'Punjab Kings outperformed us in bowling, batting, and certainly in fielding. We need to evaluate whether we should make some hard choices or continue as we are and hope for a turnaround. These are critical questions that we must answer ourselves, and we must take responsibility for it.'
'They Completely Outplayed Us'
Acknowledging the superior performance of PBKS, Pandya remarked, 'Honestly, I don’t have much to say right now. We need to rethink our approach and identify where we are falling short. Is it due to the players? As a team? Or is it a planning issue? We will figure it out and see what we can do moving forward. We should also give credit to Punjab Kings. The ball started reversing, and conditions improved in the second innings, but they completely outplayed us.'
