Akshaya Tritiya festival is on 19th April. Akshaya Tritiya is a very auspicious and virtuous festival in Hindu religion, which is celebrated on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month. It is also called Akhatij or Vaishakh Teej in common parlance. According to religious beliefs, Satyayuga and Tretayuga started from this date.

According to the scriptures, all the virtuous deeds done on this day like bathing, charity, chanting, penance, havan and tarpan never get destroyed, rather their results remain eternal i.e. infinite. This is the reason why this date is considered extremely fruitful and destroyer of sins. The presiding deity of this day is Goddess Parvati, with whose blessings no work done on this date goes in vain. There are many mythological beliefs to Akshaya Tritiya. 1- Belief to incarnations of Lord Vishnu

According to religious beliefs, many important incarnations of Lord Vishnu appeared on this holy day. Among them, Nar-Narayan, Hayagriva and Parashuram are prominent. Parshuram Jayanti is also celebrated on this day especially because of the birth of Parashuram ji. The purpose of these incarnations was to establish righteousness and destroy unrighteousness.

2- Story of Akshay Kumar’s birth

It is believed that on this day Brahma ji’s son Akshay Kumar was born. The word ‘Akshay’ has its own meaning. Which never ends. This is the basic message of this festival that the fruits of auspicious work done on this day never end.

3- Beliefs to Mahabharata

According to mythology, the war of Mahabharata also ended on this day. This day is considered a symbol of the victory of religion over unrighteousness and inspires to follow the path of truth and justice in life.

4- Opening of doors of Badrinath Dham

The doors of the holy Badrinath Dham located in Uttarakhand are also opened on this day. This temple, which remains closed during winter, opens again for darshan on Akshaya Tritiya, which marks the beginning of the Chardham Yatra.

5- Beginning of Chardham Yatra

Akshaya Tritiya is considered to be the beginning of Chardham Yatra. Devotees start their pilgrimage from this day. It is also considered very auspicious for new work, business, marriage and shopping.

6- Special darshan in Banke Bihari Temple

In the Shri Banke Bihari Temple located in Vrindavan, the feet of the Lord remain covered throughout the year, but on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, devotees get a rare opportunity to see the feet. This darshan is considered extremely auspicious and devotees from far and wide reach here on this day.
