How many points are needed to reach the playoffs?

Let us tell you, every team plays 14 matches in the league stage of IPL. If we look at the records of the last few years, 16 points are considered safe to qualify for the playoffs. Apart from this, if a team has 18 or 20 points, then its place in the top-2 gets confirmed. Whereas if any team has less than 16 points, then the qualification of that team is determined on the net run-rate.

Now if RCB and RR win 4-4 matches in their upcoming matches, then their place in the playoffs will be almost confirmed. After winning 3 out of 4 matches, Punjab Kings are at third position with 7 points.

Whereas Sunrisers Hyderabad team is at fourth position with 4 points. Apart from this, Delhi Capitals are at fifth position with 4 points, Gujarat Titans are at sixth, Lucknow Super Giants are at seventh and Chennai Super Kings are at eighth position. Mumbai Indians are at ninth position with 2 points, while Kolkata Knight Riders are at the last position with 1 point.
