New Delhi: Tesla had very recently announced that both the Model S and Model X were discontinued. The need to shift to increased production of robots. Before these models exit, though, Tesla is planning to make a limited-edition version of each, which will be called the Signature Series.

As per MotorTrend, the cars will also get unique design elements, be full-spec Plaid trims, and be invite-only. They are also expected not to come very cheaply either, since Tesla is already marking their prices up on the rest of remaining inventory of S and X. 

As per media reports, these limited-edition final models will come with unique Signature Series styling elements. There will be gold exterior badges, Plaid seat badges and pipi, with Model S even getting gold brake callipers. Interior-wise, it is expected to have a plaque on the dash, which shows the vehicle’s number in the limited production run. 

Tesla will likely produce 250 examples of the Model S and only 100 examples of the Model X. To avail the special edition, of course, there is a need for an invite from Tesla. The Signature Series cars will come fully loaded. Each one will feature the Luxe Package, which includes free lifetime Supercharging, four years of maintenance and what Tesla is calling Full-Self Driving.

Whether you are a fan of Tesla or not, the S model did change how the automotive world viewed its quirky design and the minimalistic interior layout. Over the years, the sales have dipped, and for now, it is the Model 3 and Model Y that is worldwide selling more. Model Y is the only product sold by Tesla in India presently, though the start for the brand has been slow. The brand has been rumoured for a while to bring a new product to the Indian market.
