Maulana Amir Hamza, a founding member of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was critically injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in Pakistan’s Lahore on Thursday.
The attack occurred shortly after Hamza had finished recording a programme for a television channel and was on his way home. According to initial reports, assailants lying in wait ambushed his car and unleashed a barrage of gunfire.
The shooting took place moments after Hamza left the studio, catching him off guard. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attackers fired indiscriminately, targeting his vehicle in what appeared to be a pre-planned strike.
