Mumbai Police Busts Drug Dealer Operating from Betel Leaf Shop

Mumbai. The Vikroli unit of Mumbai Police has apprehended a shopkeeper who was allegedly selling drugs under the guise of a betel leaf shop. Authorities seized approximately ₹1.84 lakh worth of MD drugs from the suspect. This operation was conducted based on confidential information received by the police. The arrested individual has been identified as Manwar Jamirulla Ansari, 48, who operates a betel leaf shop in Tagore Nagar, Vikroli. Police received a tip-off that he was selling methamphetamine (MD) from his shop. After confirming the information, officers caught him red-handed while he was selling the drugs.

During the search, a total of 92 grams of MD drugs were recovered, with an estimated market value of around ₹1.84 lakh. The Vikroli police have registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act and are now conducting further investigations. They are trying to determine the source of the drugs and how long he has been involved in this illegal activity. Additionally, they are investigating whether he was connected to a larger drug syndicate or if he was operating independently.

Dangerous Activities Behind the Betel Leaf Shop

Police officials have stated that the suspect had been engaging in this illegal activity for a considerable time while using his betel leaf shop as a cover, but he has now been caught in the act. The investigation may reveal the individuals to whom he was selling these drugs. This operation has caused a stir in the area, and officials have indicated that the campaign against drug abuse will continue.

New Tactics in Drug Trafficking

In a related case, the Sakina police in Mumbai uncovered shocking details during their investigation into a drug factory in Mysore, where drugs worth ₹434 crore were seized. Authorities revealed that a unique and highly secretive method was being employed for drug trafficking into Maharashtra. According to police, a shirt photo was being used as a codeword within this network. The investigation showed that the supply and production processes were being carried out by two separate gangs, with the most surprising aspect being that the members of these gangs did not even know each other. This was the most dangerous and cunning modus operandi of the entire operation. Such arrangements make it extremely difficult to unravel the layers of the network.
