UP Pro Handball League: Mathura Braj Star captured the league trophy, defeated Gorakhpur Rowdies 44-38 in the final.

Lucknow, Read: Mathura Braj Star succeeded in winning the winner’s trophy of the first season of Tata Capital UP Pro Handball League in a thrilling match on Tuesday. In the high voltage final played at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall of KD Singh Babu Stadium, Mathura Braj Stars defeated Gorakhpur Rowdies by a margin of 44-38.

The final of this league, organized by SN Pandey Sports Institute Trust in collaboration with Tata Capital under the supervision of Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, saw a fierce competition between the two teams. From the beginning of the match, both the teams continuously attacked each other’s goalposts. Both the teams were tied at 21-21 in the first half.

In the second half, Mathura Braj Star played brilliantly by changing their strategy and turned the match in their favor. The hero of Mathura’s victory was international player Rohitash, who scored 14 goals and was elected Most Valuable Player. International player Ravi supported them well by scoring 11 goals. Apart from this, Nihal scored 8 goals, Yahiya 6, Shiva 3 and Surya 2 goals.

On the other hand, for Gorakhpur Rowdies, Mohammad Shuja and Krishna scored 10 goals each. Deepak scored 5 goals, Sunil and Pawan scored 4 goals each and Happy scored 3 goals, but mistakes at crucial moments cost the team dearly.

KILLING THE MUSKS (35)

In the closing and prize distribution ceremony, chief guest Mohsin Raza (former minister, Uttar Pradesh government and former Ranji cricketer) presented the trophy and cash prize of Rs 2 lakh to the winner Mathura Braj Star. Runner-up Gorakhpur Rowdies was given a prize of Rs 1 lakh.

Rohitash of Mathura Braj Star scored a total of 49 goals in the league and was adjudged Player of the League. He was given the keys of a TVS Extreme motorcycle as a reward.

Rajya Sabha MP Seema Dwivedi was also present at the ceremony. The program was presided over by League CEO Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, while League Founder and Managing Director Amit Pandey expressed his gratitude to everyone. On this occasion, officials of Uttar Pradesh Handball Association and sports lovers were also present.
