US pop star Katy Perry is reportedly under investigation in Australia following allegations of sexual assault made by actor Ruby Rose, according to police and media reports.

Rose alleged in a series of now-deleted social media posts that the incident occurred at a nightclub in Melbourne nearly two decades ago.

On Tuesday, Rose, best known for her role in the television series Orange Is the New Black said she had formally submitted reports to police and would no longer comment publicly on the matter.

In a statement, Victoria state police confirmed they were investigating a historical sexual assault case dating back to 2010 in Melbourne, but did not name any individuals involved. “As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage,” a police spokesperson said.

A representative for Katy Perry denied the allegations in a statement to Variety, calling the claims “categorically false” and describing them as “dangerous, reckless lies.” The statement further alleged that Ruby Rose has previously made public accusations on social media that were denied by those involved.

Katy Perry, known for global hits such as Hot n Cold, Roar, and I Kissed a Girl, has recently also been in the spotlight due to her reported association with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.

The investigation remains ongoing, with no further details released by authorities so far.
