Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai launched 515 new PACS committees. With this, farmers will get the facility to purchase fertiliser, seeds, loan and paddy in the village itself. 197 committees have been formed in tribal areas, which will also benefit remote farmers.
Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai virtually inaugurated 515 newly formed Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS) of the state from Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan located in Nava Raipur. Describing it as a big gift for the farmers, he said that this is a historic step towards achieving the goal of “prosperity through cooperation”.
The number of cooperative societies in the state increased to 2573.
The Chief Minister said that with the start of these new societies, the total number of cooperative societies in the state has increased to 2573. Congratulating the farmers, he said that the government is promoting innovation in farming through modern technology and cooperation, so that both villages and farmers can become prosperous.
PACS will become a multi-purpose society, facilities will be available in the village itself.
The Chief Minister informed that now PACS committees will work as multi-purpose societies. With this, farmers will get facilities like fertilizers, seeds and short-term loans near their villages. Besides, the process of selling paddy will also be easy and farmers will be able to sell paddy in their nearest committee only.
Digital Facility: Benefits from Computerization and Micro ATM
He informed that 2058 committees already functioning have been computerized to provide better services. Micro ATMs have also been installed in these committees, through which farmers can withdraw amounts up to Rs 20,000.
Special focus in tribal areas: 197 new committees established
The Chief Minister said that out of the newly formed 515 committees, 197 committees have been established in tribal areas. With this, far-flung farmers will get direct benefits and they will also be able to join cooperative schemes.
Beyond agriculture: expansion of dairy, fisheries and government services
The Chief Minister said that these committees will not be limited to only fertilizer and seed distribution. In future they will also be linked to activities like milk production, fish farming. Also, Public Service Centers will be started in the committees, where more than 25 government services will be available at one place.
Appeal to farmers to join and presence of public representatives
The Chief Minister appealed to the farmers to avail maximum benefits by becoming members of these committees and take active participation in their functioning. Many senior officials including Cooperative Minister Kedar Kashyap, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Industry Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan, Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Tourism Minister Rajesh Aggarwal, Employment and Skill Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb joined the program virtually. Apart from this, Apex Bank officer Kedarnath Gupta, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, Secretary Cooperative CR. Prasanna, Managing Director K.N. About 2500 public representatives, farmers and officials from Kande and various districts were present.
