New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins on Wednesday provided a crucial update regarding his comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Cummins has been recovering from a back injury and has not played for SRH in the tournament so far. In his absence, Ishan Kishan has been leading SRH in IPL 2026.
Cummins had arrived in India earlier this month to link up with the rest of the SRH squad, however, he flew back home for his rehabilitation. The star pacer, who also captains Australia in Tests and ODIs, is one of the key players in the current SRH squad, and his absence has been hurting the team in their bowling department.
On Wednesday, April 15, Cummins responded to a fan on his official Instagram account to reveal the status of his much-anticipated comeback for SRH in the IPL 2026. The fan requested the Aussie pacer to join the SRH squad before their next game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, April 18.
Responding to him, the SRH pacer said he is aiming to return against the Rajasthan Royals on April 25. “Aiming for 25th vs RR,” Cummins wrote, responding to the fan on his Instagram account.

Pat Cummins to return to India this week
Cummins is currently undergoing his rehab in Australia and is reportedly expected to clear a fitness test before returning to India this week. He was set to undergo a fitness test today and is likely to rejoin the SRH squad by Friday, April 17. However, it will take him at least another week to return to match fitness before taking the field for the franchise this season.
Cummins has already missed five matches in the ongoing IPL 2026 and will miss another couple of games if he makes his comeback in SRH’s clash against the Rajasthan Royals on April 25. SRH will play CSK on April 18 before taking on the Delhi Capitals in their next game on April 21. The Orange Army will then take on RR in their 8th match of the season on April 25.
In Cummins’ absence, SRH have enjoyed a mixed start to the season. They are currently sitting at the 4th spot on the IPL 2026 points table with two wins and three defeats in their first five games of the season.
