Mandya district of Karnataka is currently making headlines as Bhairavaikya Temple was inaugurated here today. This temple was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Regarding this, a question is arising in the minds of many people that which god or saint will be worshiped in this temple.

No god will be worshiped in the Bhairavaikya temple but a great saint Bal Gangadharnath will be remembered. Balagangadharnath had worked for the interests of many people of Karnataka in his life because he believed that religion is not just worship but true religion is to help people i.e. karma is religion. Now the question arises as to who was Balgangadharnath, as a tribute to whose life and legacy this temple has been established.

Who was Balgangadharnath?

Balgangadharnath was the 71st president of Mahasansthan Math, whose unwavering devotion and spiritual thoughts gave him a distinct identity. Balgangadharnath had helped many people in Mahasansthan Math because of his kind thoughts. After joining the Math, he took initiation according to the tradition of Nath sect, after which he continued to transmit the spiritual ideas of Swami Ramanand of Nath tradition to the future generations.

Balgangadharnath received Padma Bhushan award

Balgangadharnath was awarded the Padma Bhushan award, the country’s third highest civilian honour, in 2010 because of the many developmental works he had done for the society as president of the Mahasansthan Math. He provided education to many poor children in the monastery and provided basic facilities to the poor people in the villages surrounding the monastery. Apart from this, he promoted the elimination of caste discrimination in villages and unity in the society.

Balgangadharnath died in 2013 due to kidney failure. At that time, the eyes of lakhs of devotees were moist but due to his social welfare works, he is still present in the hearts of the people. For this reason, it is believed that Bhairavaikya Temple will not only be a center of reverence but will also be a source of inspiration for the coming generations.
