Former General Catalyst partner Priya Mohan has joined JoulesToWatts (J2W), a GCC-focused AI transformation and consulting firm, as chief operating officer.

In her new role, Mohan will be responsible for leading the full lifecycle of J2W’s AI implementation. This covers everything from initial diagnostics and strategy design, through execution, change management, and outcome delivery.

Mohan comes with more than 20 years of experience across investment, operations, and enterprise technology. Most recently, she was at global venture capital firm General Catalyst, where she worked closely on India’s global capability centre (GCC) ecosystem and enterprise AI landscape.

“AI does not have a capability problem," said Mohan. "It has a context problem with respect to enterprises. I spent years in venture watching companies raise capital on the strength of AI roadmaps and then quietly struggle to operationalise them. I moved to JoulesToWatts because this is where that work actually gets done."

Last August, Mohan announced on LinkedIn that she had stepped down from her role at General Catalyst after a long career in venture investing. At that time, she wrote, “After 22 years of an amazing and rewarding professional journey, I have decided to take a break — I do not know "what next" (yet), but despite the uncertainty, I am feeling a remarkable sense of exhilaration.”

JoulesToWatts, founded in 2015 by Priti Sawant, who is the CEO, is focused on helping enterprises and GCCs scale transformation efforts. The company employs around 5,800 professionals across nine countries and has worked with more than 330 GCCs. It partners with Fortune 500 companies across industries, including technology, BFSI, healthcare, and manufacturing.

"Priya brings a perspective shaped by seeing enterprise AI from the outside, with the rigour of making hard calls on what truly works, and now applies that within execution, exactly what customers need,” said Sawant.

Mohan joined General Catalyst in August 2024 after Venture Highway merged with the firm.

Before that change, she was Managing Partner at Venture Highway, where she led investments in various companies, including fintech company FamPay and SaaS startup BetterPlace.

Mohan had become managing partner of Venture Highway in October 2023, replacing cofounder Samir Sood. At that time, the firm was in the process of raising its $60 million third fund.

India is home to over 1,700 GCCs today, employing close to 1.9 million professionals, contributing around $65 billion to exports, and set to grow to $125 billion in the next few years, J2W said.
