In a shocking incident from Bihar, a sub-inspector named Chandan Kumar, stationed at the Safiya Sarai police station, has been taken into custody on charges of murdering his wife. The couple had entered into a love marriage; however, after their wedding, allegations surfaced that Chandan had begun an affair with a female sub-inspector.

The couple frequently quarreled, particularly when his wife expressed her discontent regarding the affair and urged him to distance himself from the other officer. On Saturday, reports emerged claiming that his wife had committed suicide by shooting herself with a revolver. However, her family contends that Chandan shot her with his service revolver. The police have initiated an investigation into the case, registering it as a dowry-related murder.

The victim's family revealed that Chandan and Madhu had developed a romantic relationship during their student years. Eventually, Madhu's family consented to their inter-caste marriage, which took place on February 7, 2025. Post-marriage, it became apparent that Chandan was involved with a female sub-inspector stationed in Bariyarpur. Conflicts arose whenever Madhu insisted that he stay away from the other woman.

A few months ago, the female sub-inspector was transferred to another police station, while Chandan was reassigned to the Safiya Sarai police station. Three months prior to the incident, Madhu had moved back to live with her husband after staying at her parental home. Just ten days before the tragic event, she had returned home. On the day of the incident, another argument erupted between the couple, leading to the unfortunate occurrence.

It is important to note that Madhu Kumari, aged 29, died inside a rented accommodation under the jurisdiction of the Safiya Sarai police station, allegedly due to a gunshot from her husband's service revolver. Initially, it was reported that following a dispute that morning, Madhu had taken her own life with the revolver. However, the allegations made by her family have shifted the narrative of the case. The police conducted a post-mortem examination of Madhu's body under the supervision of a three-member medical team, after which the body was handed over to her family.
