The Madison has established itself on Paramount+ with the streamer now confirming its future.
Renowned for successes including Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown and Landman, creator Taylor Sheridan unveiled his latest Western drama The Madison last month on Saturday, March 14.
Featuring Hollywood icons Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, The Madison follows the Clyburn family as they endure a catastrophic tragedy which prompts them to move to Montana in a bid to recover from the ordeal.
Despite being merely weeks since its launch, Paramount+ has announced that The Madison has now been commissioned for a third season, much to viewers' satisfaction.
Yet given the drama's rapid ascent to fame, reports of an early series commission don't arrive as particularly shocking.
The Madison achieved a remarkable eight million global views for its opening episode in its initial 10 days on Paramount+.
It's formally been designated as "Sheridan's most-watched debut ever" with nearly one billion minutes watched during its first complete week following launch.
There was little question that it was going to be renewed for a second series with production for seasons one and two completed consecutively.
Nevertheless, a series two launch date hasn't yet been revealed and until this is confirmed, a potential release date structure cannot be determined for the forthcoming third series.
When The Madison returns for its second season, Matthew Fox will not be reprising his role as Preston Clyburn's (played by Kurt Russell) brother Paul. B
oth characters died in the plane crash and while they have each appeared in flashbacks, only Russell will be making a comeback for the second instalment.
Looking further ahead, however, Russell will also be absent from the third series, having already confirmed he will not be involved.
He told TV Insider: "This is a contained experience for me in the show, and I'm very happy about that. It's been an incredible experience."
The Madison is available to watch on Paramount+.
