Chennai Super Kings are back in form, and the five-time champions defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs for their second consecutive win in the IPL 2026. After posting 192/5, the Men in Yellow restricted KKR to 160/7 in 20 overs on April 14. Kolkata batters were unable to get going despite a few getting starts at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Finn Allen, the struggling opener, managed just 1 run.

Sunil Narine, who was promoted to open the innings, looked good for a while, but Khaleel Ahmed undid him. He amassed 24 runs off 17 balls, with the help of 2 fours and as many sixes.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane (28 off 22) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (27 off 19) entered the double-digit mark, but the team needed better performance from them. Rinku Singh (6), the vice-captain, failed to connect with Noor Ahmad’s delivery and was caught by Shivam Dube. Cameron Green, the most expensive overseas player in IPL history, was dismissed on a duck.

Ramandeep Singh (35 off 23) and Rovman Powell (31* off 22) showed some resistance in the death overs.

Noor, the CSK spinner, who was finding it hard to take wickets in the previous games, claimed three scalps. Anshul Kamboj added two wickets to his bowling figures.

Earlier, Rahane won the toss and invited Chennai to bat first. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad amassed just 7 runs, recording his fifth consecutive failure in the 19th season. Sanju Samson’s 32-ball 47 were aced with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Ayush Mhatre played an aggressive knock, scoring 38 runs off 17 balls, with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Dewald Brevis, the young South Africa batter, smashed 4 fours, 2 sixes and 41 runs to the total.

Sarfaraz Khan (23 off 18) and Dube’s (13 off 12) efforts played a role in taking the score to 192/5.

Kartik Tyagi bowled with pace and picked up two wickets. Vaibhav Arora, Narine and Anukul Roy took 1 wicket each.

KKR are still winless after five games. On the other hand, CSK are 8th in the standings.
