Adivi Sesh returned to the big screen after four years with romantic action-drama Dacoit: A Love Story co-starring Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap and directed by Shaneil Deo.

The movie released amid decent buzz but failed to impress the critics as well as the audiences.

The movie opened to mixed response from the critics and the audiences and the same was translated into box office numbers as Dacoit earned a below average Rs 19.80 crore in India, as per Sacnilk.

It made Rs 6.55 crore on day one, Rs 6.85 crore on day two and Rs 6.40 crore on day three in India.

The worldwide gross of the movie after its opening weekend stands at Rs 34.77 crore.

The opening weekend number leaves a lot to be desired considering the budget of the movie is somewhere between Rs 80-100 crore, as per Adivi Sesh.

Despite being a new release, Dacoit was second choice of the viewers; the top choice remained Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal.

The movie in fourth weekend made more money than Dacoit. Dhurandhar: The Revenge made Rs 31.50 crore, taking its total to Rs 928 crore in Hindi.

And after adding Rs 55 crore from the dubbed versions, the all-India total of Dhurandhar 2 stands at Rs 983 crore.

The movie is now days away from hitting Rs 1000 crore in India but breaching the milestone with Hindi version alone remains out of reach.

Ryan Gosling’s Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster Project Hail Mary has braved Dhurandhar 2 earning Rs 12 crore in its third weekend.

The total biz of the movie in India now stands at Rs 65.65 crore and going by the strong third weekend, it is now on course to hit Rs 100 crore in India.

At the worldwide box office, Project Hail Mary has made $510.60 million on a 200 million reported budget.
