8th Pay Commission: Recruitment Underway for Consultant Positions; Salaries Exceed ₹1 Lakh

8th Pay Commission Consultant Recruitment 2026: The government has initiated the recruitment process for Consultant positions to facilitate the ongoing work of the Commission. This recruitment drive will be entirely contract-based.

Consultants are being appointed to the 8th Pay Commission to assist the government in formulating a new framework for employee salaries, pensions, and allowances. These consultants will be experts in finance, law, human resources, and other related fields, providing expert advice to the Commission on critical issues pertaining to wages, allowances, and pensions.

Approximately 20 positions are to be filled through this recruitment drive, categorized into three distinct levels: Senior Consultant, Consultant, and Young Professional.

To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must possess a Master's degree or an MBA in Finance, HR, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates holding an LL.B. degree are also eligible to apply. Specific experience requirements have been stipulated for each position, ranging from 4 to 10 years.

Age limits for the Consultant positions within the 8th Pay Commission have been established according to the respective categories. The maximum age limit for the Senior Consultant position is set at 45 years, while for the Consultant position, candidates must not exceed 40 years of age. Conversely, the lowest age limit applies to the Young Professional category, wherein only candidates up to a maximum age of 32 years are eligible to apply.

Remuneration for this recruitment has also been determined based on the specific categories. A Senior Consultant working on a full-time basis stands to receive a maximum monthly remuneration of up to ₹1,80,000. Meanwhile, the salary for the Consultant position is set at up to ₹1,20,000, and Young Professionals will be provided with a monthly stipend of up to ₹90,000.
