Uttar Pradesh: 6 dead, 7 injured as bus returning from wedding procession hits truck

New Delhi: At least 6 people have died and 7 others were injured in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district. The accident happened on the Dhaulana-Gulawati road. According to reports, the bus was carrying a wedding party and they were returning from the wedding procession.

Several critically injured: Police

According to the local police, several people were critically injured in the accident. They have been moved to hospital and are currently under treatment. The police said that the dead bodies were retrieved from the damaged bus and have been sent for post mortem.

The wedding procession from Dasna in Ghaziabad had gone to Gulawathi in Bulandshahr. As they were returning after the wedding ceremony, this horrific accident took place on the Kapurpur-Dhaulana road. As information about the accident spread, teams from multiple nearby police stations reached the spot and took the injured to hospital.

In order to prevent any traffic disruption, the damaged bus was moved away from the main road. The traffic operations were normal within hours of the accident, claimed officials.

The police said that there were a total of 12 people on the bus. While 11 have been identified, 1 of the deceased still remains unknown. It is suspected that he was the driver of the vehicle.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter. They are trying to establish how exactly the accident happened and was it human error or some other problem, which led to the accident.
