Dr Todd has generated considerable drama on Emmerdale thus far - but it emerges that actress Caroline Harker hails from quite a famous family.

Jacob Sugden's (Joe-Warren Plant) existence has been transformed into a living nightmare in recent weeks due to Dr Todd. As well as driving him to his absolute breaking point, Dr Todd has also been manipulating him, and highlighting his errors.

The duo appeared to reach an understanding last week though, when Dr Todd shared details about her life beyond the hospital, disclosing she has a wife, and her dementia-afflicted father was in hospital.

Dr Todd's pleasant demeanour proved short-lived though, as Dr Todd snapped at Jacob for disregarding the Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order on her dad's file.

This resulted in a distressed and exhausted Jacob inadvertently striking Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) with his car.

And in Sunday's episode (April 12) Dr Todd persisted in playing psychological games with Jacob and subsequently commenced her scheme to portray Jacob as fixated with her, reports the Mirror.

Nevertheless, beyond the soap, it transpires Dr Todd actress Caroline Harker originates from quite a famous family. Her mum Polly Adams is an accomplished actress who has performed both in the UK and the US.

She famously portrayed Mrs. Brown in the 1990s television series Just William, and her other TV appearances include Kingdom and The Cinder Path.

Meanwhile, reflecting on Dr Todd's return, Caroline Harker said: "I'm delighted to be back at Emmerdale for a longer stint playing Doctor Todd. She's a complex character and from what I've been told so far, quite a tricky one for Jacob to navigate."

The accomplished actress went on to say: "Workplace bullying is commonplace, and it will be interesting to see it brought to our screens in a serial drama such as Emmerdale."
