Eamonn Holmes' partner has turned to prayer following the TV presenter's hospitalisation after suffering a stroke. While Holmes is now reported to be on the mend, girlfriend Katie Alexander, 44, took to social media posting: "What a week.
"Prayer, prayer each day." His estranged wife Ruth Langsford has reportedly been kept up to date about his condition through their son Jack, 23. A friend reportedly said: "It's been a terrifying time. Eamonn fell ill at home and those close to him have been worried sick ever since. Fortunately, Eamonn's on the road to recovery. Katie has been by his side in hospital pretty much all of the time, except to get a change of clothes at home. She loves him dearly and is doing all she can to help. Everyone is just praying he'll be back home soon.", reports the Daily Star.
A further source told The Sun on Sunday: "Katie has been praying for Eamonn every day. She's beside herself after an incredibly emotional and rollercoaster week.
"She's been to church to pray in solitude. She's a devout Christian and is in shock after spending so much quality time with Eamonn over the Easter weekend."
Alexander subsequently shared a further update on Instagram on Friday evening (April 10), writing: "What a week. Prayer, a little visit to church to have a word with the good Lord himself, prayer each day."
Holmes was discovered collapsed at his apartment in Kingston upon Thames, South West London, the Sun reported. A carer had reportedly made the discovery. The former This Morning presenter, 66, was taken ill at home on Tuesday (April 7). The GB News star, who uses a wheelchair, had been due to return to his breakfast show on Monday (April 13), but will now be absent from screens for the foreseeable future.
He has not appeared on screen since March 11, when viewers raised concerns after he appeared to fall asleep during an interview with Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Darren Jones. Holmes' health struggles began in 2021 after he suffered three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.
Following surgery the following year, he began using a wheelchair and is now supported by carers on a daily basis, the Daily Star previously reported. Speaking last month about his ongoing condition, he said: "Well obviously I've been better.
"I've got this back and paralysis problem which has been with me now for three years. It's terrible to come to terms with.
"The thing is, nobody seems to know what the problem is so I just stick with it and hopefully they'll find a cure one day." Away from his health battles, Holmes parted ways with ex-wife Langsford, 66, in 2024, and has since embarked on a relationship with marriage counsellor Alexander.
