World Record SUV: JSW MG Motor India JSW MG Motor India is going to launch its new premium SUV MG Majestor SUV in the Indian market on 20th April. Even before its launch, this SUV has come into limelight due to a unique stunt. The company has registered its name in the Guinness World Records by pulling a train weighing 406.4 tonnes for a distance of more than 300 feet on an operational railway track in Jammu and Kashmir. This feat is a record for the heaviest train ever pulled by an SUV.
Powerful engine and performance
The SUV used to set this record was a stock production unit, in which no significant changes were made. It has a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, which generates power of 215 hp and torque of 278 Nm. It is provided with 8-speed automatic transmission and three locking differentials, which provide it better traction and power.
History of Guinness Records
The category of pulling the heaviest train has previously been generally associated with human strength. In 1999, Juraj Barbarič made this record by pulling a train weighing 1,000 tons. But with this effort of MG, for the first time an SUV has made its place in this category.
Entry into premium segment
The MG Majestor SUV is being designed as a premium offering in the company’s D+ segment. This model will fall in the category above the company’s existing SUV MG Gloster. It has been specially designed for those customers who are looking for a large, powerful and feature-rich SUV.
Made in news before launch
Although the company has not yet revealed its price and complete launch details, but this record has strengthened the pre-launch campaign of the SUV. Nowadays automobile companies try to show the power of their vehicles through such unique stunts before launch. Brands like Tata Motors have also done similar experiments in the past to promote their models.
