CSK vs DC Match Highlights: Sanju Samson's Century & Jamie Overton's 4-Wicket Haul Power Chennai to First IPL 2026 Win

A brilliant unbeaten century from Sanju Samson, combined with a fiery four-wicket haul by Jamie Overton, powered Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a commanding 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 clash at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
Posting an imposing 212/2 after being put in to bat, CSK rode on Samson’s scintillating 115 off just 56 balls, along with valuable contributions from Ayush Mhatre (59 off 36) and a late flourish by Shivam Dube (20 off 10). It marked CSK’s third 200-plus total this season, and this time, their bowlers ensured it was successfully defended.
In response, DC started aggressively, with KL Rahul (18 off 10) and Pathum Nissanka (41 off 24) taking full advantage of the powerplay, racing to 61 in just five overs. However, Rahul’s dismissal on the final ball of the fifth over triggered a dramatic collapse.
DC lost four wickets for just 15 runs in the next three overs, shifting the momentum firmly in CSK’s favour. Nissanka, Axar Patel (1), and Sameer Rizvi (6) fell in quick succession, as CSK’s pace attack—led by Overton, Anshul Kamboj, and debutant Gurjapneet Singh—tightened the screws.
Tristan Stubbs tried to revive the chase with a counter-attacking 60 off 38 balls, supported briefly by David Miller (17) and impact player Ashutosh Sharma (19). The trio added quick runs, but Overton struck at crucial moments, dismissing key batters and finishing with outstanding figures of 4/18—his best in the IPL so far.
After Ashutosh’s departure in the 15th over, DC’s innings unraveled rapidly. From a promising 149/5, they were bowled out for 189 on the final ball, falling short by 23 runs.
Anshul Kamboj also impressed with three wickets, while Noor Ahmed chipped in with one. CSK’s fielding effort further strengthened their grip on the game, highlighted by sharp catches and disciplined bowling in the death overs.
Despite a flying start, DC faltered in the middle overs and failed to build partnerships, with only Stubbs managing a substantial contribution.
Samson was rightly named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock, which set the foundation for CSK’s first victory of the season. The win will boost CSK’s confidence as they prepare to face KKR at the same venue on April 14.
