The Sopranos stars who sadly died including horror shooting and cancer battle

The Sopranos ended in 2007 after a highly successful six-season run, during which the programme followed the life of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano (played by James Gandolfini) as he balanced his criminal activities with his family life. However, several stars are no longer with us. Here, we take a look at the actors and actresses from the beloved show who have died.

The highest profile death was the drama's star James Gandolfini, who died on June 19, 2013, due to a heart attack while he was on holiday. Actress Denise Borino-Quinn, who portrayed Ginny Sacrimoni, passed away on October 27, 2010, following a battle with liver cancer at just 46 years old. Frank Pellegrino, who portrayed FBI Director Frank Cubitoso in several episodes, died in 2017 at 72 from lung cancer.

Meanwhile, Robert Loggia, who played Feech La Manna, died in 2015 when he was 85 years old due to complications with Alzheimer's Disease. Another star who died was John Costelloe, who played Jim Witowski in the show. The star died in December 2008 due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which left his fans staggered.

More recently, Tony Sirico, who played Paulie Gualtieri, died on July 8, 2022, when he was 79 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He died in an assisted living facility, with family confirming he died following a struggle with dementia.

Joseph Siravo, who portrayed Johnny Soprano, tragically died on April 11, 2021, at age 66 after a battle with prostate cancer. His daughter was by his side when he took his final breaths.

Other stars who have died include Nancy Marchand, who played Tony Soprano's mother, Livia. She died on June 18, 2000, just a day before turning 72. Her cause of death was determined as complications of lung cancer and emphysema.

John Heard, known for being crooked detective Vin Makazian, died when he was 71 in July 2017 after having a heart attack.

Another notable actor who has passed is Tom Aldredge, who played Hugh De Angelis, the father of Carmella Soprano. He died in 2011 when he was 83 due to complications arising from lymphoma.
