Auto Drivers License | The issue of language in Maharashtra has been in discussion for the past few days. Now many rickshaw pullers will be affected by this. While the rickshaw pullers should have basic knowledge of Marathi while communicating with the passengers, there were complaints from many parts of the state that some rickshaw pullers do not understand or use the Marathi language, causing difficulties for the passengers. Apart from this, the transport department was also questioned following allegations of alleged malpractices in the licensing process. In the background of all this, the state government has come into action mode. The Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for rickshaw pullers across the state to know and use Marathi language, and strict action will be taken against rickshaw pullers who do not know Marathi language from May 1.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik gave information about this. Pratap Saranaik warned that drivers who do not follow the rules will be checked and those found violating the rules may have their licenses revoked. This decision has been taken as per the directives given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the recently held MMRDA meeting. This action will be taken under the policy of giving preference to local language. Auto Drivers License

Meanwhile, the government has started cracking down not only on rickshaw pullers but also on illegal transport services. In particular, there is a massive campaign against ‘bike taxi’ services. Pratap Sarnaik also informed that the licenses of ride-hailing platforms like ‘Ola’, ‘Uber’ and ‘Rapido’ have been temporarily suspended for violating certain regulatory conditions. According to the rules of Motor Transport Department, it is mandatory for rickshaw pullers to know Marathi language. But after realizing that this is not being implemented effectively, a re-inspection campaign has been undertaken. During this inspection, a thorough test will be conducted to see if the drivers have knowledge of Marathi language and whether they can communicate directly.
