The contest in Tamil Nadu politics this time is not limited to DMK vs AIADMK. Parties like Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) are also making a strong presence in the fray now.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s DMK government is seeking votes on welfare schemes and social justice agenda, while the AIADMK is giving prominence to anti-incumbency and economic issues. Whereas TVK is trying to attract the youth and NTK is pushing forward the issue of Tamil identity and nationalism.

This region is based on agriculture and textile industry, hence farmers’ problems, irrigation, electricity, employment and business development remain the major election issues here.
