Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has taken an important and historic decision and implemented ‘Award Policy’. Under this policy, Punjab Police has been empowered to give rewards to persons providing credible information about wanted criminals/gangsters and their networks in the state. In this regard, the state government has also released a list of 28 most wanted criminals.

People giving authentic information will get the amount

Under the ‘Gangsters Te War’ project, the government has given powers to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to sanction up to Rs 1 lakh, to the Police Commissioner/Range IG/DIG up to Rs 1.5 lakh, to the heads of various wings (Special DGP/ADGP) up to Rs 2 lakh and to the DGP more than Rs 2 lakh. This amount will be given only to the persons giving correct and authentic information.

The government says that the objective of this scheme is to completely curb crime and gangster networks in the state and for this it is very important to promote public participation. The information received will be first scrutinized and the reward will be given only on the basis of fixed standards. Also, the identity of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential and he will not be allowed to face any kind of threat.

People can share information on ‘Anti-Gangster Helpline’ 9394693946. According to the police, a reward will be given for reliable information that leads to the arrest of wanted or declared criminals. Apart from this, action will also be taken on the suggestions given by the citizens.

The information received under this scheme will be used to make ‘Operation Prahar’ and ‘War on Gangsters’ campaigns more effective. This is a high level reward scheme, in which the identity of the informer will be completely protected.
Punjab Police has appealed to the people to come forward in maximum numbers and cooperate in making the state crime free. The government has made it clear that the security of every citizen is its responsibility and all information will be used only after proper investigation.
