IPL 2026: Vaibhav Suryavanshi deliberately targets legendary bowlers! Is this the reason?

Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Matt Henry. These are not just the names of some fast bowlers, but there are such fast bowlers who are counted among the best and successful cricketers of this era. From Virat Kohli to Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Rohit Sharma, there are many greats who have been troubled by these bowlers. But Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is half or less than half the age of these bowlers, does not care about this and this has been seen in IPL 2026. But is Vaibhav deliberately more attacking against the legendary bowlers?

No one was saved from Vaibhav's attack

At the age of just 15, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created an atmosphere in IPL 2026 with the power of his bat, which has no other example till date. Perhaps it is Vaibhav himself, when he made his IPL debut last season at the age of 14. Then Vaibhav Suryavanshi created a stir by hitting a six on the first ball and scoring a century in 35 balls. Now he has continued the same style in his second season also.

The thing that has surprised everyone about Vaibhav this season is his attack on the first ball against the legendary bowlers. In his very first match of the season, he hit a four on the first ball of Chennai Super Kings' legendary bowler Matt Henry. Mohammad Siraj hit a four on his first ball against Gujarat Titans. Then his target against Mumbai Indians was veteran fast bowler Trent Boult, on whose first ball Vaibhav hit a six. In the same match, Vaibhav shocked everyone by hitting a six on the first ball of the most dangerous pacer Bumrah. He did the same thing against RCB, when the 15-year-old star hit fours on his first ball against Bhuvneshwar and Josh Hazlewood.

Does Vaibhav attack intentionally?

Vaibhav's attack against Hazlewood was as shocking as the attack on Bumrah. Vaibhav hit 3 consecutive fours and a six in the over of the Australian legend. This attack by Vaibhav forced Irfan Pathan, former star all-rounder of Team India and a fast bowler himself, to ask a question, to which he himself answered. Irfan posted on his social media account, "Does Vaibhav Suryavanshi deliberately target big bowlers? I would like to think so."

Irfan has a point because there are many players who like to face more difficult opponents because it boosts their confidence even more. On the other hand, the morale of the opposing team gets defeated. This is like a move in chess or any war, where by killing the Bajir or the commander, the opposing team is put under pressure beforehand and then it becomes easier to win that match or war.

What does Vaibhav Suryavanshi himself think?

But does Vaibhav himself think so? Do they deliberately target? When a similar question was asked to Vaibhav after the match against RCB, he refused. Vaibhav said that whenever he bats, he definitely keeps in mind who is the bowler in front of him, but instead of batting according to the reputation of that bowler, he bats according to the characteristics of the ball coming from him.

Vaibhav, who has played only 11 matches in IPL till now, has proved this to be true. He hit a six against Shardul Thakar on the very first ball of his IPL career. Since then, this trend of glory has continued and at the moment no great bowler or ordinary bowler seems to be a challenge for him.
