U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has strongly denied any connection to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein or his associate, even as newly surfaced emails in a trove of official documents have reignited public debate over past interactions.
“To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell,” she said, adding that any suggestion otherwise was misleading. She further asserted that she had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities or the abuse allegations that later emerged, as per a report by USA Today.
Trump also clarified that she was never a passenger on Epstein’s private aircraft, nor did she visit his private island, distancing herself from widely reported associations involving other public figures.
According to the records mentioned in a report by USA Today, an individual identified as “Melania” sent a message to a recipient referred to as “GI,” widely believed to be Ghislaine Maxwell. The email referenced a media story about Epstein and included casual remarks about travel and social plans.
In a reply dated January 2003, a sender identified as “G. Max” responded warmly but indicated scheduling conflicts, suggesting familiarity between the correspondents.
However, key identifying details, including full names and email addresses, remain redacted in the documents, making it difficult to conclusively verify the identities of the individuals involved.
“My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence,” she said, describing it as a “trivial note” that should not be interpreted as evidence of a relationship.
She reiterated that she had no personal or professional ties to Epstein or Maxwell, and that attempts to suggest otherwise were unfounded.
While such images have circulated publicly for years, their reappearance in official records has renewed attention on historical connections between high-profile individuals and Epstein’s social circle.
“Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes,” she said, aligning her remarks with broader calls for justice from survivors.
Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, and Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in facilitating his crimes.
