The Mumbai Indians (MI) is under pressure with IPL 2026 going on, and the absence of England all-rounder Will Jacks is a major talking point. While the team is under pressure in the competition, Will Jacks is on holiday in Europe, and it has not gone down well with the supporters.
Jacks was given a break after the T20 World Cup, but his availability delayed by the English all-rounder, while the franchise was expecting him to join them as soon as possible. He is still on a break while MI is struggling in the bottom half of the points table after consecutive losses in IPL 2026.
Holiday Pictures Add Fuel to Fire
The fiancée of Jacks, Ana Brumwell, posted images from her holiday trip with the star player on Instagram. They visited Morocco before proceeding to Paris and watched a concert together. These posts are attracting attention on social media and users are complaining while the team has been continuously failing in the league.
Ana and Jacks have known each other since they were at school in England and were engaged in Australia during Ashes tournament earlier this year. Their relationship is personal, but the timing of the celebration and holiday have raised eyebrows.
Jacks performed brilliantly during the T20 World Cup in India. He amassed 226 runs and scalped 9 wickets in 8 games of the competition. He received 4 player of the match award and he was a pivotal player in England’s run in the semi-final stages.
MI Waiting for Jacks' Return
MI coach Mahela Jayawardene commented on the team’s loss against Rajasthan Royals after the game. He confessed that there is no return date confirmed for Jacks yet.
“Will Jacks hasn’t joined the team yet. We are hoping he joins the team soon,” Jayawardene mentioned.
The Mumbai Indians are lacking the impact of an all-rounder. They tried various combinations and still haven’t found a proper one. MI chose to play Allah Ghazanfar in the first match and changed him to Mitchell Santner in the second match, followed by five bowlers in the other encounter, which still led to disappointment.
Jacks can be a potential top-order batter and a very useful middle-overs bowler for the side. MI kept him for more than 5 crore rupees and they are suffering without their star all-rounder who can impact the batting and the bowling performance.
Their latest game against Rajasthan Royals, which was reduced to 11 overs by rain saw Rajasthan batters going all out on the Mumbai Indians' attack. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal combined for a stand worth 80 runs in just 30 balls, while Sooryavanshi even went on to hit Jasprit Bumrah and posted 150/3 at the end of the allotted overs.
While chasing, Mumbai collapsed early to 46/5 in five overs, and the 47-run partnership between Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir could not save the team as MI lost the match by 27 runs which affected their net run rate to a significant margin.
The team is now slumped to seventh in the points table and will next play Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 12, at the Wankhede Stadium.
