Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a young woman ended her life after she was injected with HIV+ blood by her former fiancée in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, tv9 telugu reported.
The incident reportedly took place on March 11 in Annojiguda, which falls under Pocharam IT corridor police station. The man identified as Manohar, reportedly attacked the woman after her parents called off the wedding upon realising that he and some members of his family were HIV positive.
Suspect Manohar arrested:
Manohar reportedly went to her house and forced her to accept the marriage. When she refused, he used a syringe to draw his own HIV+ blood and injected it into her and fled the scene, police officials said.
After the assault, she developed a high fever and was admitted to a private hospital, where she described the attack to her family members.
Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, the police registered a case at the time, arrested Manohar, and remanded him to judicial custody.
In distress, the woman hanged herself at her house on Thursday night. Her body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have intensified their investigation to determine whether the blood was indeed infected with HIV, or if the accused merely used it as a scare tactic.
