Of these 6.88 crore were male voters, while 5.67 crore were female. Now following the processing of Form 6 and 7, with various verification, which resulted in the addition of approximately 80 lakh new names and removal of 7 lakh names, the final figure is expected to reach 13.35 crore.

Notices issued to 1.04 crore people: Election Commission sources

Sources in the Election Commission said that among the names deleted from the voters list was of people whose names could not be matched with their parents or grandparents names. The Commission had issued notices to a total of 1.04 crore people, in whose details there were discrepancies.

Apart from the people who were issued notices, there were 3.18 lakh people, who themselves filled out Form 7 and requested the deletion of their names from the voters list, said sources. It is believed that most names that have been removed from the list are of people from western UP.

In the final list, the number of male voters will be more than female voters, said the Commission. Of the 86.69 lakh applications submitted under Form-6 for the inclusion of names, 43.06 lakh were from men and 43.62 lakh from women. Regarding Form-7, which is used for the deletion of names, the 3.18 lakh applications included 1.46 lakh from men and 1.31 lakh from women. Among those who were served notices by the EC, there is no major difference based on sex.
