Kolkata: TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) which is the largest software company in the country as well as the biggest employer in the Tata Group, has implemented an annual salary hike for employees across all grades, effective April 1. TCS unveiled this news while announcing its Q4FY26 financial results on Thursday. The information contrasts with the implementation of salary hike last year when it was done as late as September. However, the band of salary hikes has not been disclosed by the management. The decision of the management was underpinned by robust results of the company, which reported a 9.64% growth in revenue and nearly 29% growth in profits (both on year-on-year basis) for the Q4 period.

All grades to benefit

TCS human resource function chief Sundeep Kunnummal said the company implemented salary increases across all grades from April 1. He said the company is continuously investing in building a future-ready workforce, which includes both experienced professionals and campus hiring.

Net addition in Q4

TCS added a total of 2,356 employees in Q4FY26. After net reduction in earlier quarters, TCS reported a rise in net employment in the Jan-March period.  The company’s total employee strength stood at 584,519 at the end of FY26, compared to 607,979 at the end of FY25. The focus of the software sector has now switched to hirings with skills in AI and machine learning and data science. A conspicuous point is here is that the addition comes even as TCS sharpens its focus on AI, which is widely supposed to lead to a loss of jobs across many sectors.

Focus on AI

The TCS management has said that building an AI-first culture is the top priority now. Equipping employees with AI-related skills and adapting to changing customer needs will remain a key focus of the company. TCS currently employs approximately 270,000 employees with a high level of proficiency in AI and machine learning.

Recently TCS’s fpocus has been to acquire approriate companies that have a skillpool in AI. Last year TCS purchased 100% in ListEngage, a leading Salesforce Summit partner. According to statement by TCS, ListEngage is a full stack Salesforce partner that specialises in CRM, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Agentforce and AI advisory services for different enterprises.
