New Delhi: Royal Enfield has entered the field of electric vehicles and launched its first electric motorcycle Flying Flea C6. This new e-bike refreshes old memories and is equipped with modern technology. The company has introduced it under its new EV sub-brand Flying Flea.

Price and availability

The ex-showroom price of this motorcycle has been kept at Rs 2.79 lakh. If you choose the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, the price comes down to Rs 1.99 lakh. Bookings and test rides will start from tomorrow i.e. 10th April at the first Flying Flea showroom in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of May. Initially this bike will be available in different cities in a phased manner.

Flying Flea C6 design and battery

The Flying Flea C6 takes its name from a light motorcycle of the 1940s. It has an attractive neo-classic look, which is suitable for daily use. It has a 3.91 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is air-cooled and housed in a magnesium alloy casing. This bike is light, its weight is only 124 kg.

Performance and range

This bike runs on a permanent magnet motor, which gives about 20.6 hp power and 60 Nm torque. The top speed is up to 115 km/h and the speed of 0 to 60 km/h is achieved in just 3.7 seconds. IDC range is up to 154 km on a full charge, which is quite good for daily commuting in the city.

Charging time 2 hours 16 minutes

It takes approximately 2 hours 16 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent. Charging from 20 to 80 percent takes about 65 minutes. It has rapid, standard and trickle charging mode. Wireless charging is also supported. It can be easily charged from a normal wall outlet at home.

Features and safety

The bike has features like 3.5 inch color TFT touchscreen, USB-C charging port and wireless phone charging. Electronic handlebar lock is also provided. The suspension consists of girder linkage front setup and rear monoshock. There are 19 inch tubeless tires on both sides. For braking, disc brakes and dual-channel ABS are available, which also has lean-angle sensitive ABS and traction control. Other safety features include tip-over alert and location sharing.

Ground clearance is 207 mm, which makes it easy to navigate bad roads. This bike will be available in Storm Black and Flea Green colors. The Flying Flea C6 comes with a lightweight aluminum frame, which allows for customization. More variants may be launched in the future. This electric bike is a good option for riders who want a pollution-free and fun ride.
