digital desk- These days, poster war and social media memes have heated up the atmosphere in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. The matter has now escalated so much that it is not limited to just political rhetoric, but has even reached police action. The ongoing political tussle between Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath is now openly visible both on the streets and on social media. Actually, the controversy started with those posters which were put up in Gonda, Jaunpur, Kanpur and Varanasi including the capital Lucknow. In these posters, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was shown as “Lyari Raj”, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was described as “Dhurandhar CM”. Clippings of news to criminal incidents and riots that took place during the Akhilesh government were also prominently shown in the posters. These posters are said to have been put up by a group called “Youth Against Mafia”.
Told the CM that there was smoke
As soon as these posters came to light, Samajwadi Party workers got enraged and tore the posters at many places. In response to this, SP also retaliated by putting up new posters, in which the Chief Minister was described as “dhuandhar”. In these posters, criminal incidents after 2017 were highlighted, due to which the political atmosphere became more heated. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav’s statement further fueled the controversy. He said that the people who were putting up the posters themselves did not know who “Dhua-Dhar” was, but now the entire state has come to know. Taking aim at the government, he said that the state has been pushed back in nine years and now panic is clearly visible.
Poster war became a political battlefield
Amidst the poster war, social media also became the political battlefield. SP leader IP Singh shared an AI-based video meme, which showed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dancing to a film theme music. The controversy deepened as soon as this video went viral. In this case, a complaint was lodged at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow, after which an FIR was registered against IP Singh. The police showed promptness and got the controversial posters put up in the city removed overnight. This action gave a clear indication that the administration is serious about this issue.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak’s statement came out
At the same time, Brajesh Pathak’s statement has also come out on this entire controversy. Attacking the Samajwadi Party, he said that goons and mafias used to get protection during their tenure. He said that if any filmmaker or litterateur brings out the truth of the society, then he should be appreciated. Brajesh Pathak also said that the present government is committed to providing better law and order in the state, while he accused SP of promoting hooliganism.
