A breathtaking bowling effort from Brazil's Laura Cardoso was surely one of the finest ever seen in a T20I. The speedster claimed a remarkable nine wickets to become the first to ever achieve this feat in men's or women's cricket.
During a BCA Kalahari Women's T20I against Lesotho on April 9th, Cardoso ended with a staggering 9 wickets for only 4 runs off of 3 overs – the best bowling figures in any T20I to date.
Brazil dominates Lesotho from start to finish
Batting first Brazil had a tremendous total as they posted 202/8 off of 20 overs, with Roberta Avery scoring 48 from 35 balls and Monnike Machado being left not out on 69 off of 41. They pressured Lesotho throughout their batting and reached a big total.
In their batting effort, Lesotho had absolutely no response to Cardoso's pace and pinpoint accuracy as she was brought in to bowl second over of their chase and took a hat-trick with a further four victims taken in her third.
In the sixth, Cardoso took two more to claim the nine-wicket haul and bundled out Lesotho for just 13 runs in 6.2 overs. Marianne Artur picked up the final wicket as Brazil secured victory by a colossal 189 runs.

Cardoso shatters records galore
This achievement shattered all previous records in T20Is. The men's best prior to Cardoso was eight wickets for seven runs by Sonam Yeshey (Bhutan) against Myanmar in 2025. In women's T20Is, the best previously was 7/0 by Indonesia's Rohmalia Rohmalia against Mongolia in 2024.
Control was also prevalent as Cardoso bowled 2 maiden overs and conceded only 4 runs with an economy of 1.33 as Lesotho crumbled before the pace and accuracy of the Brazilian, as most failed to reach a double digit score. She was awarded the player of the match for the stunning display.
This is one of the greatest spells in all of cricket history and it has truly launched Brazil into global cricket consciousness.
