How to Apply for New Png Connection: To overcome the problems caused by shortage of LPG cylinders Central Govt Now it has been decided to encourage the use of piped natural gas i.e. PNG. Residents of areas where natural gas pipelines are available have been urged to get PNG connections within the next three months. This will help in smooth supply of LPG cylinders in remote areas where there is no gas channel. If PNG pipeline is available in your area, you can apply online from home as follows.

1. Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) – For Mumbai and its surroundings

PNG is supplied by ‘Mahanagar Gas’ in Mumbai and suburbs. The application procedure is as follows:

• First of all www.mahanagargas.com Visit this official website.
• on the homepage ‘Go to ‘Customer Zone’ and select ‘New Domestic Connection Request’ option.
• Register for new connection by entering pin code of your locality.

2. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)

Some major cities including Delhi-NCR are supplied by IGL:

• Go to this website.
• Check the feasibility of gas in your area by clicking on ‘Apply New Connection’.
• Scan and upload the required documents. After that the company representative will come and verify and the connection will be activated.

3. GAIL Gas

GAIL Gas operates in several other cities of the country:

• Complete the application process by selecting your city or area name.

How long does it take to get a connection?

The duration of getting a PNG connection depends mainly on the demand in your area. If you already have a pipeline in your building or premises, gas supply usually starts within 15 to 20 days. New connections may take up to 90 days in new areas or if demand is high. Generally same period is applicable for all companies like MGL, IGL and GAIL.

Advantages of using PNG

PNG is considered safer and cheaper than LPG cylinders. There is no fear of running out of cylinders and gas is available 24 hours a day through a direct pipeline. Also, you have to pay the bill according to the amount of gas you use.
