News India Live, Digital Desk: A new diplomatic controversy has arisen regarding the ongoing tension in the Middle East and possible peace talks between America and Iran. While on one hand the Pakistan government and its Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif are ‘beating their chest’ that they are playing the role of mediator to save the world from a big war, on the other hand Israel has rubbished these claims. Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar has bluntly questioned the credibility of Pakistan and termed it an ‘unreliable party’ in this entire incident. Israeli Ambassador’s attack: “Pakistan is not a credible player.” Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar made it clear in a recent interview that Israel does not see Pakistan as a reliable mediator. He said that America can use Pakistan as a ‘facilitator’ for its strategic reasons, but it does not mean that Pakistan is the main center of this agreement. Azar compared Pakistan with ‘problematic’ countries like Qatar and Türkiye, with whom the US has been working under compulsion. This statement of Israel is a big blow to the Shahbaz Sharif government, which was trying to prove itself as a ‘peacemaker’ on the international stage. Is Pakistan just a ‘pawn’ of America? Political analysts believe that the Trump administration has used Pakistan only as a messenger and not as a decision-making mediator. The Israeli Ambassador’s statements indicate that Pakistan has no real power in this negotiation. He reminded that Pakistan does not even have diplomatic relations with Israel, so how can it be part of any agreement that involves Israel’s security? Experts are considering this activism of Pakistan only as a part of ‘Digital PR’. Israel’s stance on Lebanon is strict, Pakistan’s claims fail. The second major reason for controversy is Lebanon. Pakistan had claimed that it was conducting a comprehensive ceasefire, but Israel has made it clear that its operation will continue until the threat from Iran and its supported groups (Hezbollah) is completely eliminated. The Israeli ambassador stressed that his priority is to disable Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile capabilities. The ‘peace’ that Pakistan is singing about, its reality on the ground seems to be getting lost somewhere amidst the Israeli attacks and Iran’s threats. Islamabad may become isolated on the diplomatic front. Israel’s questioning of Pakistan’s credibility shows that Pakistan’s role will not be taken seriously in any major international agreement in the future. On one hand, Pakistan is surrounded by allegations of its links with organizations like Hamas, and on the other hand it is trying to become a bridge between America and Iran. Israel has given a clear warning that they will trust only those countries that are truly committed to peace and stability, and not those that are merely pursuing their own political interests.
