
According to the Cabinet note, the estimated budgetary requirement for Kharif season 2026 will be approximately Rs 41,533.81 crore, which is approximately Rs 4,317 crore more than the budgetary requirement for Kharif season 2025. The budget for Kharif season 2025 was Rs 37,216.15 crore.
This approval will ensure availability of fertilizers to farmers at concessional, affordable and fair prices. Also, considering the recent trends in international prices of fertilizers and other inputs, subsidy on phosphate and potassium fertilizers would be justified.
Subsidy on phosphate and potassium fertilizers including DAP and NPKS grades will be provided on the basis of approved rates for Kharif season 2026 so that these fertilizers are easily available to the farmers at affordable prices.
The cabinet said in the statement that the government is providing 28 categories of phosphate and potassium fertilizers, including DAP, to farmers at concessional rates through fertilizer manufacturers/importers.
In view of the recent trends in international prices of fertilizers and other inputs like Urea, DAP, MOP and Sulphur, the Government has decided to approve the National Subsidy Rates on Phosphate and Potassium (P&K) fertilizers (including DAP and NPKS grades) for the Kharif year 2026 with effect from April 01, 2026 to September 30, 2026.
Subsidy will be provided to fertilizer companies as per approved and notified rates so that fertilizers are available to farmers at affordable prices.
