The excitement of the match reached its peak in the last over. David Miller, who had retired hurt in the middle due to injury, returned after scoring 41 runs in 20 balls to bring Delhi closer to victory. However, a small mistake in the final over proved costly.
Delhi needed 2 runs from the last two balls, but Miller refused to take a single on the fifth ball of the 20th over so as to keep the strike. He missed the last ball while trying to play a big shot and the ball remained a dot. With this, Gujarat won this exciting match by 1 run.
With this win, Gujarat Titans opened their winning account in the season, while Delhi Capitals had to suffer their first defeat. The match once again proved that anything is possible in T20 cricket till the last ball.
