New Delhi. A two-week ceasefire has been agreed upon amid rising tensions between the US and Iran. Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered all military units of the country to stop firing immediately. In a statement carried on state-run broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Khamenei said this is not the end of the war, but all military branches should follow the Supreme Leader’s order to cease firing.

Fingers are on the trigger, Iran warns
Despite the ceasefire, Iran has issued a stern warning. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that this step is not a sign of the end of the war and if there is any small mistake on the part of America or Israel, it will be responded to with full force. The statement said that our fingers are on the trigger and any mistake of the enemy will be given a befitting reply.
Diplomatic initiative after 39 day war
A large number of people have lost their lives in many countries so far in this conflict that started after the joint attack by America and Israel on February 28. Thanking its citizens for their sacrifice, Iran claimed that most of the war objectives had been achieved and the enemy had suffered a historic defeat.

Iran’s 10-point proposal
America had given a 15-point proposal towards ceasefire, in response to which Iran presented a 10-point proposal. Iran has made it clear that it will accept the end of the war only after these conditions are agreed upon.
What did Trump announce?
US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire in the early hours of Wednesday and called it a ceasefire between the two sides. He said that America has achieved its military goals and is now moving rapidly towards a long-term peace agreement. Trump also said that two weeks’ time is necessary to finalize the agreement. However, he placed a condition that Iran would have to open the Strait of Hormuz completely, immediately and safely.
